One day at a time (5 comments)

Well, this has been quite an adventure so far...When we set off back in April, we knew the road would be full of surprises and that we wold probably encounter an obstacle or two. I remember the first town we stopped in Back in April -- Hiawasee, GA. We stayed at a beautiful little hostel called The Blueberry Patch...Gary, the owner, ran the hostel as a free ministry to hikers. During our visit there for a day, we talked to SO many people that had thru-hiked the Appalachian trail in years before...And in every story, we heard about the unexpected things that happened along the way. With every story we were told "just take it one day at a time...

i THINK we can... i THINK we can...

Well, the day has come once again. Currently, Justin and I are buzzing around the second floor of my parents home in New Jersey getting things situated to leave the comforts of modern life and step back out into the untamed wilderness and start walking north. If you need some refreshing, here's a quick synopsis: Some time in 2009 we decided to Thru-Hike the Appalachian Trail, as we were dreaming of our trip we felt we needed to bring awareness to something that meant a lot to us. We learned about charity: water in this time and knew that this was a cause that we could really support and we had a ton of faith in the organization...

Slowly but surely... (2 comments)

We're on the uphill swing of our convalescing now...we'll hopefully be back out very soon if all continues to go well! I've been wearing my new boots for a couple days now for 10-15min at a time to slowly start getting my foot used to them...My pinky-toe joint still gets sore after walking around for too long, but the pain is MUCH lighter and more bearable than it was 4-5 weeks ago! If fact, I can actually walk with full weight on the bottom of my foot now where before I had to walk with all the weight on the outer side of my foot! Both of us have been very anxious to return to the woods...

One more thing off the list!

Well, this will be short (because I'm 15 minutes outside my favorite city of New York sitting in a hospital waiting room waitng for jes's sister-in-law to have a baby AND trying to type on an iPod!), but we wanted to update all of you since we've been in jersey resting the foot for a couple weeks. Well, we have great news! #1: I'm almost walking completely normal again and #2: we have a renter for our house as of today!!! :). That's right, the last big item that everyone has been praying for is finally finished... This means a couple great things, but mainly the fact that we can continue on our trip (without massive financially repercussions) as soon as I can wear my boots again (hopefully only about 2 weeks!)! And yes, to answer some questions we've been getting, we WILL be heading back to the trail as soon as possible!!! :)...
