Slowly but surely...
We're on the uphill swing of our convalescing now...we'll hopefully be back out very soon if all continues to go well! I've been wearing my new boots for a couple days now for 10-15min at a time to slowly start getting my foot used to them...My pinky-toe joint still gets sore after walking around for too long, but the pain is MUCH lighter and more bearable than it was 4-5 weeks ago! If fact, I can actually walk with full weight on the bottom of my foot now where before I had to walk with all the weight on the outer side of my foot! Both of us have been very anxious to return to the woods....after all, there is only so much Television you can watch over the course of a month without going insane ;-)
In the mean time, I wanted to remind all of you that Jes and I being laid up in New Jersey doesn't have to change the way you give or spread awareness for clean water...I encourage all of you to check out the past and present projects that charity: water is working on at http://www.charitywater.org/projects/ I know it probably only takes a few weeks for the excitement to wear off about our trip and for your minds to drift from the images and information that once tugged at your heart....but please don't let what you've seen and what so many of you have learned about simply be stored away somewhere in your memory! Jes and I may not be actively on the trail right now, but remember, this whole trip wasn't about us -- it's about spreading the word so that others may help make a difference in this crisis.
We'll keep you posted as to our return date and starting point for the trail...hopefully it will be sooner than later :)
